Triumph motorcycles possess a true retro look and feel and with their rich history as café racers, recognizable sound and beautiful and classic design.
Introduced in 1965 as a limited edition, the Thruxton is a great-looking bike that harkens very loudly back to its café racer days in the 1960s. The bike was named after the high-speed British circuit where Triumph had many successes.
The Thruxton has an air-cooled engine and uses fuel injectors instead of carburetors, although one might not know to look at it as they have been cleverly fit into carburetor-styled bodies. As with the Ducati Scrambler, this bike also employs Kayaba suspension, which is adjustable. The Thruxton is the only bike in Triumph’s Modern Classic line-up to offer this. Braking is supplied by Nissin both up front and in the rear and is sufficiently strong. The 865cc bike is manageable by most riders but with a seat height of 32.3” and a wet weight of 506 lbs., it may be a bit much for newbies. The bike performs best out on the open road, so be sure and take this one out and away from the bustle of the city and freeways.
- Air-cooled, DOHC, parallel-twin engine
- Kayaba suspension
- 2 gallon fuel capacity
- 506 lb. wet weight; 471 dry
- Metzeler Lasertec tires
The Triumph Thruxton will definitely turn heads and garner a lot of attention from both veteran riders as well as those who are thinking of upgrading from that old 250cc Honda. Call OC Motorcycle today to reserve this bike for a weekend of riding through Southern California’s backroads.
