Triumph first launched the Tiger 800 model in 2010, but the Tiger has a storied past that includes gold medals at the 1936 International Six Days Trial. A sophisticated and rugged dual-sport bike, the company has re-designed the Tiger 800 over the years and the recent models are exceptional examples of what can be done when today’s technology intersperses with detailed and well-thought-out comforts. Triumph’s Tiger has a storied past that includes gold medals at the 1936 International Six Days Trial.
The 2021 Tiger 900 replaces the manufacturer’s Tiger 800 and is offered in three models: base, GT and Rally. Key features include a revamped engine with T-plane crank, new firing order (1-3-2) and new balancer shaft. The new twin radiator has been repositioned allowing the engine to be relocated 1.6” forward and 1” lower. A new airbox allows easier access to the air filter. The Tiger 900 is an off-road/adventure bike foremost and offers the rider unparalleled comfort and power with supreme control. The list of standard equipment even for the base model is mind-boggling and includes two riding modes: Road and Rain; full color 5” TFT display instruments; ergonomic switch cubes with LED lighting and five-way joystick; cornering ABS and traction control; torque-assist clutch, semi-adjustable Marzocchi suspension and adjustable windshield. The Tiger 900 is also Euro 5 compliant and has the new My Triumph connectivity system that integrates your phone with the TFT dash enabling phone calls, GPS navigation, music operation and GoPro control.
The new Tiger is eleven pounds lighter than its predecessor due to a new steel-trellis frame with removable passenger foot pegs and bolt-on aluminum subframe and employs strong, four-piston Brembo Stylema brakes in front and Brembo single-piston in the rear. It has spoked tubeless wheels that are perfect for off-road riding and an adjustable seat height. In addition, the bike comes equipped with Michelin Anakee Adventure tires. There are over sixty-five accessories available for the rider to make the Tiger their very own.
The Tiger 900 is more than ready for off-road adventure and can take the rider (and passenger) in comfort, style and confidence into places and territories that may not have been an option before. It is also a stealthy and comfortable street bike for commuters.
